TAHOE DONNER M.002
MASTRIDICASA's portfolio showcases a range of projects, starting with one of our first notable endeavors that exemplifies our expertise in innovative design and execution.
The referral came from a local Truckee interior designer whose mother we did the improvement plans for her condominium in St. Helena. Shari was friends with the client, a married couple, integral in the West Coast food supply chain.
The project tested all that was possible on a steeply downsloping lot typical of the neighborhood, demonstrating our capability to handle complex site conditions confidently.
The crawlspaces under the bridged garage and the main house were fully developed with multiple levels separated by their functions - both public and private spaces that are a natural extension of the home's existing posture.
Every square foot of the house was reimagined and updated, including the decks, showcasing our thorough approach and commitment to quality. The results speak for themselves.

The clients came to MASTRIDICASA seeking a full-home facelift and additional square footage for their growing family, aiming to enhance both functionality and aesthetics.
As seen in the pictures above, the crawlspace under the garage was massive - almost two full stories within the existing footprint, as well as another story under the lower level of the main house. Also note the narrow alley between the garage and house, which will require careful planning to ensure access and safety during construction.
MASTRIDICASA performed a forensic as-built of the existing structures and, fortunately, confirmed that the project plans are viable given the available space between the garage and the residence, ensuring the success of the extensive remodel and addition as envisioned.
EXISTING CONDITIONS

AFTER CONSTRUCTION
The completely refinished and revised facade showcases the care taken in the renovation, helping homeowners feel proud and confident in the home's renewed appearance. The existing finishes, still in good condition, were preserved with a fresh coat of paint and stain, reflecting thoughtful attention to detail.
The new entry roof gable not only sheds snow away from the circulation path but also shelters the new pantry door, ensuring reliable protection and efficient supply delivery. Matching masonry wainscot seamlessly ties into the existing, demonstrating careful planning and craftsmanship.
The new crawlspace addition includes a cantilevered window seat for the bedroom, adding a cozy, inviting feature that enhances the home's comfort and character.
The entire design and success of the project hinged on this staircase.
A custom-fabricated single stringer stairway that exploited every nuance of the building code requirements, and although not obviously, is the actual star of the project - without it, none of this would have worked the way it does.
