SONOMA POOLHOUSE AND SOLAR
A pool house and retreat property shaped around outdoor living, hospitality, energy strategy, and quiet usefulness.
This Sonoma project included the renovation of a bungalow-style pool house, a discreet outdoor kitchen designed to support catered gatherings, photovoltaic and passive solar integration, and updates to an on-site corporate retreat center.
The work needed to feel relaxed enough for private use, capable enough for professional entertaining, and practical enough to serve the property well over time.
The result is a more complete retreat setting — one shaped for gathering, rest, hospitality, and long-term stewardship.

The pool house was reworked to feel more connected to the surrounding outdoor spaces.
Rather than treating the cabana as a separate accessory building, the design focused on how it supports the larger experience of the property: arrival, gathering, shade, service, transition, and rest.
The goal was not to make the pool house louder. The goal was to make it more useful, more settled, and more connected to the life around it.

CABANA
The bungalow-style pool house renovation gave the property a more capable support space for swimming, gathering, and retreat.
Updates were shaped around comfort, durability, ease of use, and the relationship between the cabana, pool, outdoor kitchen, sauna, and surrounding landscape.
Small support buildings matter. When they are planned well, they make the entire property work better.
The cabana kitchen and sauna areas were designed to support both everyday use and hosted gatherings.
The layout needed to be practical, discreet, and easy to serve from — especially when the property was being used for catered events or professional retreats. The design focused on function first, with finishes and detailing that support the setting without turning the space into a showpiece.
Good hospitality spaces should feel effortless to the guest because the work behind them has been carefully planned.

OUTDOOR KITCHEN
The outdoor kitchen was designed to support private use, larger gatherings, and professional catering without dominating the landscape.
Service, circulation, storage, weather exposure, equipment, and guest experience all shaped the design. The goal was a kitchen that could work hard while still feeling quiet and appropriate to the property.

From above, the project is best understood as a series of connected improvements: pool house, outdoor kitchen, solar strategy, retreat center, circulation, and gathering areas.
Each piece needed to serve the larger property. The goal was not simply to add features, but to create a more capable and coherent retreat environment.
