TAHOE CITY LAKEFRONT
Complete Condominium Remodel | Chinquapin Condominiums, Tahoe City, California
A lakefront condominium remodel shaped around view, light, privacy, and a more natural way of living at the edge of Lake Tahoe.
Facing east-southeast across the water, this condominium already had the one thing that could not be improved: its relationship to the lake. The work was about everything around it — rethinking the interior plan, improving private spaces, refining the arrival sequence, and creating a calmer, more functional home without competing with the view.
MASTRIDICASA collaborated with Gary McKelvey Architect, Aspen Leaf Interiors, and Welling Construction to help transform the residence through a complete interior remodel. Nearly every interior wall was reconsidered, and the finishes were updated from floor to ceiling.
The design approach was simple: let the lake remain the main event.
Open living spaces, reworked private rooms, a more generous powder room, refined en-suites, and carefully edited finishes helped the home feel more settled, more useful, and more connected to its setting.
The result is a Tahoe lakefront residence that feels quiet, warm, and deeply tied to the view.

The kitchen overlooks the sunken living room and opens toward long views across Lake Tahoe and the east shore.
This view corridor became one of the organizing ideas of the remodel. The interior needed to feel open and connected, but not stripped of warmth or intimacy. The result is a main living area that keeps the lake present without making the room feel exposed.

GREAT ROOM
The updated fireplace and masonry wall are placed to support the room without competing with the lake.
In a lakefront home, restraint matters. The room needed warmth, texture, and a natural gathering point, but the view still needed room to breathe.
The design gives the space a grounded interior focus while keeping attention where it belongs: toward the water, light, and horizon.
The powder room was completely reshaped to create a more generous and refined experience within a compact footprint.
Small spaces often reveal the quality of a remodel. With better planning, cleaner proportions, and carefully selected finishes, the room became more useful, more comfortable, and more aligned with the rest of the home.
